Corazón verde, by Luis Sepúlveda and Diego Meza, 2002 (30 minutes) in cooperation with Cinemazero

It will be a night of images, starting with a multimedia projection of the beautiful and evocative pictures, some of which were printed in Ultime notizie dal Sud (published by Guanda), taken by Daniel Mordzinski during one of his frequent travels to Patagonia with his friend Sepúlveda. It will be followed by a prize-winning documentary (Festival International du Film in Vébron, France) produced by Sylvie Deleule in cooperation with LaEffe. The film explores the secrets, the private sorrows, the political battles and the memories of the great Chilean writer. The event will close with Corazón verde, a documentary film directed by Diego Meza and Luis Sepúlveda himself and presented at the 59th edition of the Venice Film Festival. The two authors interview ecologists, lawyers, farmers, teachers and fishers, all with the same desire to protect Chilean Patagonia's natural environment from a multinational corporation's attempts to build an aluminium factory in an uncontaminated place.

Daniel Mordzinski
was born in Buenos Aires in 1960 and is known as “the writers' photographer”. He has been working on creating a “human atlas” of South American literature for over thirty years, capturing its most influential protagonists, from Jorge Luis Borges to Gabriel García Márquez, from Mario Vargas Llosa to Carlos Fuentes and, naturally, Luis Sepúlveda. He exhibited his works in Argentina, Brazil, Peru, Mexico, Colombia, France, Spain, Portugal, Israel and Italy. He is the official photographer of famous literary events like the Hay Festival and works for the Spanish newspaper “El País”. In Italy, he published the photo-book I volti del narratore (Guanda).
